Film Background: This film was born of a deep desire to listen to and learn from the women in my family and to understand my personal migration history. I started this journey in 2020 by capturing oral histories and researching my colonial past, with a determined ambition to document and tell stories of our strength in a world where black women are reminded of their weaknesses. From this place, 'MAIA. A Mother of Nations' was born.
